While parents can place their children in SMIS as day-scholars, the residential program is an essential part of the SMIS experience. It is based on the principles of devotion and simplicity. It strives to bring our qualities such as kindness, thoughtfulness, responsibility, confidence, humility, cleanliness, austerity and a mood of service. The children rise early in the morning and participate in Temple devotions. They learn the philosophy of Lord Krishna while studying Bhagavad Gita, Mahabharata, Ramayana and other Vedic literature. |

Children learn puja, music and prayers of the Vaisnava tradition. Residence numbers are kept small-no more then 15 students per teacher-so that personal care is ensured. The SMIS encourages regular visits by parents of the students in the residential program. Children from 5 years old are considered for the residential program. |
